The variations of the Port Lounge Chair respond to differing needs for flexibility and mobility. All of them offer the same “embrace,” as designer David Mocarski describes it, with a seat design that can accommodate many different postures and a back that wraps the user with support. Choosing between four legs or an airy swivel base can telegraph a mobile or more stationary piece: The four-leg version is easily moved, while the swivel with its self-return is designed to be more static.
MEET THE DESIGNER
Designer David Mocarski admits to “an unrelenting passion for all things art and design.” Mocarski earned an MFA from the University of California at Santa Barbara and is currently principal of Arkkit Forms Design, which was founded in Los Angeles in 1982 as a multidisciplinary design studio. The accomplished designer works very much as an artist. He pursues creativity and investigates materials and technology. He is inspired by “the idea, the expression, the process, the journey.”
